Iridomyrmex purpureus (Meat ants)

from 60.00

Iridomyrmex purpereus Queens and workers.

Iridomyrmex purpereus are commonly known as Meat ants for their want and need for preotein. Many stories have been told about farmers who can drag a dead cow onto a nest and it will be reduced to bones within a few weeks.

One of the larger Iridomyrmex genus and definitely the most aggressive. Their aggression rivals R.metallica however, that is what makes them so great to watch. Fast at growing their colony numbers and in the wild will have many many nest entrances very close together.

Tough for anything to live nearby these because of their sheer numbers and aggression.

A must have for any ant keepers collection
